Directions to reach Marchmont from the airport or train station

By bus from Edinburgh Airport

Airlink Buses

Airlink Buses run frequently between the airport and the city centre.  You can get bus number 41 to Marchmont (walk up the hill along Market Street to the Mound after getting off the airport bus at the terminal at Waverley Station) or a taxi (costs between £5 and £10 depending on time of day).

Tram

The tram also travels to Princes Street where you can get a taxi or the number 41 bus to Marchmont.

By taxi from Edinburgh Airport

Midlothian Taxi Hire

Taxis can be pre-booked from the airport.  Midlothian Taxi Hire, offer an "airport greet" service which includes waiting with a name board at the arrivals area, and transfer to the flat. Please contact Midlothian Taxi Hire directly regarding availability and booking: +44 (0)131 440 2985, email: info@midlothiantaxihire.com

Airport Taxi

An airport taxi from the rank can also be a cost-effective option for a group to travel between the airport and city, and is also quicker to get to the flat than by tram or bus. It has the advantage that it does not need to be pre-booked.

By train

Edinburgh has two main train stations, both are accessible from either flat.

From Waverley Train Station, bus number 41 heading to Marchmont stops on Waverley Bridge, just outside the road entrance into the station, opposite the airport bus terminal.

From Haymarket Train Station, there are no direct buses, so a taxi from the rank outside the station is the best option. Alternatively, walking takes about half an hour.

By bus from central Edinburgh

Buses serve Marchmont frequently from the city centre. Bus number 41 stops on Warrender Park Road going to Princes Street via the Mound, or south to the university (Kings Buildings). Bus number 24 stops on Marchmont Road, heading towards the West End via Lothian Road or to the New Royal Infirmary on the A7. Bus number 5 stops on Grange Road, heading towards London Road and the top of Leith Walk, or to Morningside. Many other buses stop nearby - the Lothian Buses website has full details as well as up to date prices.
